The outrage against historical memory, as well as hostility towards Russia, became the reason for putting Estonian Prime Minister Kai Kallas and several other officials from the Baltic countries on the wanted list. This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
“These are the people who are responsible for decisions that are actually an outrage against historical memory. And these are the people who take hostile actions towards both historical memory and our country,” said a Kremlin representative during a press call.
In addition to Ms. Callas in the database of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs appeared information about the search for the Estonian Secretary of State Taimar Peterkop, the head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture Simonas Kairis and several members of the Seimas of Latvia. According to Kommersant’s sources, the criminal case is being processed by the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
Estonian President Alar Karis last year refused sign amendments to the building code on the demolition of Soviet monuments. In January 2024, the Estonian parliament rejected a bill to dismantle the monument to a Soviet soldier in Tallinn, known as the “Bronze Soldier”.
