The founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin said that the fighters of his private military company take “many prisoners” of enemy army soldiers during a special operation of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine. According to him, those fighters who are on the front line treat prisoners more harshly.
In conversation with a correspondent “RIA News” Mr. Prigogine said (quoted with abbreviations): “There are many prisoners. Some are hurt, some are scared. The guys who take them prisoner treat them the hardest, because they take them on the front line, this is their enemy with weapons in their hands. Immediately, the whole war goes on adrenaline, on anger. But here (in custody), these prisoners are completely different, they are already philosophizing.”
A military special operation has been carried out in Ukraine on the orders of President Vladimir Putin since February 24. In addition to the formations of the Russian army, fighters from a private military company take part in it. In autumn, the media reported that Yevgeny Prigozhin personally recruits prisoners to participate in hostilities in Ukraine as part of PMCs.
