Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the work of a sports complex with a swimming pool in the city of Balabanovo, Kaluga region. The start was given online from the federal sports forum taking place in Perm on Thursday, October 19.
“Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the work of a sports complex with a swimming pool in Balabanovo via teleconference. All residents of Balabanovo were looking forward to this event. People have been asking for a long time to build their own swimming pool,” said Vladislav Shapsha, Governor of the Kaluga Region.
It is expected that the new complex will be able to accommodate up to 700 people daily. Children will be able to learn to swim here, and athletes will be able to train. In the complex, multiple champion and record holder of Russia, Europe and the world Nikolai Skvortsov will train future champions.
During the forum, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko called the Kaluga region the leader in the country in terms of the level of provision of the population with sports facilities. In the Kaluga region, the number of people interested in sports is growing. 57% of residents do it regularly.
It is noted that by the end of the year Balabanovo will receive another sports facility – an ice arena. The Ilya Averbukh figure skating school will operate there.
