The president of the Yekaterinburg football club “Ural” Grigory Ivanov may be suspended for three months by decision of the Russian Football Union (RFU) after a meeting of the ethics committee. The reason for the proceedings was Mr. Ivanov’s statement that it was necessary to “just take and drown” the referees who worked at the match between Ural and Rostov.

“You saw everything yourself. The judging was crap! Judicial chaos? If journalists say that this is lawlessness, then, for me, this is generally a disaster. In my opinion, all the referees of this match should just be taken and drowned,” he told reporters of the publication Sport24 Grigory Ivanov after the game with Rostov.

By information sports journalist Ivan Karpov, in the near future the RFU will convene a meeting of its ethics committee to analyze and evaluate the statements of the president of FC Ural. As Ivan Karpov notes, the head of Ural faces being suspended from any football-related activities for three months.

Grigory Ivanov himself called his statement about the judges “exaggerated” and said that he was not afraid of possible disqualification for these words. “Come on, it was exaggerated. It’s just saying… Disqualified and disqualified. In our country, you understand, judges are never disqualified, but they can disqualify us. They will find all kinds of committees,” said Mr. Ivanov “Sport Express”.

The match between Ural and Rostov took place on September 29 and ended with a score of 2:2, although Ural had a two-goal lead by the 17th minute. In the first half, referee Roman Galimov awarded a penalty to the Ural goal; in the 79th minute, by the referee’s decision, the Ural team player Andrey Egorychev was sent off from the field.
