The Gardarik Experimental Design Bureau showed what a new uniform looks like for the Russian military who are participating in the military operation in Ukraine. According to RBCthe state defense order for tailoring was received by a private company, its co-founder is Artem Stepanenko, whom the media called son of the deputy head of the Federal Property Management Agency. It is not specified whether the military department plans to replace previous sets of uniforms and whether the use of uniforms outside of military operations will be allowed.
LLC “OKB Gardarika” is a Moscow-based company, established in March 2022, it has a branch in the city of Gavrilov-Yam in the Yaroslavl region. The authorized capital is 5 million rubles. The co-founders are Artem Stepanenko (60%) and Ivan Silchenko (40%). General Director – Ksenia Dugelnaya. Artem Stepanenko’s father, Dmitry Stepanenko, now holds the post of deputy head of the Federal Property Management Agency, before that he worked as head of the government of the Yaroslavl region. The company’s website appears to be in test mode. In place of materials, only technical headings are indicated. In some sections, the text is published in Latin.
Artem Stepanenko told RBC that production was launched about a month ago. The first batch is expected to be ready in a week. The manufacturer does not disclose the details of the contract. According to Mr. Stepanenko, the volume of production and the cost of the kit are classified information. Now 50 people work on the territory of the Gavrilov-Yamsky flax mill in the Yaroslavl region, they can sew about 5 thousand sets per month. “OKB Gardarika” intends to hire about 500 more people and open a workshop in the Tula region. According to Ms. Dugelnaya, the company has spent tens of millions of its own funds to develop the form.
Informally, the new uniform is called the “seven-color” because of the seven colors of the camouflage pattern of the fabric. When sewing, Russian materials are used. It is alleged that the summer set of clothes was developed for about two years. It consists of a tactical jacket, trousers, combat shirt and cap. The jacket consists of 88 parts, the pants – from 92, the shirt – from 35. According to the company, in the old sets there were a maximum of 30 parts.
The trousers have hip pockets, each of which includes four automatic horns. It is possible to adjust the height of the knee, inside – neoprene knee pads. The shirt is made of cotton fabric with elastane (5%). It is impregnated with products that prevent the absorption of odors, it has pockets for elbow pads. The jacket is made of cotton-polyester fabric (50% cotton, 50% polyester).
