Power supply to Crimea has been fully restored – Kommersant

The supply of electricity in Sevastopol was resumed after emergency outages at the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant, Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev wrote in Telegram channel. Later, Krymenergo announced the complete restoration of power supply on the peninsula.
Balaklava Thermal Power Plant provides 45% of the energy consumption of the Crimean Peninsula from Sevastopol. The power of the station is 470 MW.
The System Operator (energy system dispatcher) told Kommersant that at the Balaklava TPP (470 MW, owned by Technopromexport – TPE, controlled by Rostec), two power units went offline, consumers were disconnected automatically, at 19:03 all consumers were connected .
“The closure of the shut-off valve and, as a result, the cessation of gas supply due to the triggered protection caused the shutdown of two CCGT units at the Balaklava TPP. Power supply to all consumers has been restored,” subsequently reported Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation.
An emergency shutdown on the Crimean energy system occurred at 18:05 Moscow time. Consumers were disconnected in Balaklava, Kazachya, Kamyshovaya, Fiolent bays, in the central part of Sevastopol, on Lenin and Bolshaya Morskaya streets. Most of the city of Saki was also left without electricity; outages were reported in Kerch. There were power outages in Simferopol, Feodosia and Dzhankoy.
