The head of Rospotrebnadzor: a small contact with “Arcturus” leads to infection and the development of the disease
The new sub-variant of the Arcturus coronavirus is highly contagious and is able to bypass previously formed immunity, Rospotrebnadzor head Anna Popova told reporters during a working trip to Saratov.
“Very high contagiousness, even more contagious than its predecessors,” the head of the department emphasized. According to her, any small contact leads to infection and the development of the disease. Popova drew attention to the fact that while this virus is being studied, however, today, according to foreign scientists, the infection is able to bypass the previously formed immunity.
As specified, Rospotrebnadzor sees a risk of an increase in the incidence of a sub-variant of the Arcturus coronavirus at the end of May.
Popova said that the course of the disease, basically, as with SARS, does not require a high proportion of hospitalization, however, the healthcare system is ready for additional stress and overload.
