In Russia, only isolated cases of Legionnaires’ disease are recorded. Anna Popova, head of Rospotrebnadzor, reported this to RIA Novosti.
According to her, there are no problems with legionella in the country thanks to sanitary rules, according to which hot water must be at least 60 degrees. Legionella does not survive in such water.
Anna Popova explained that legionellosis is not transmitted from person to person. It can be contracted through inhalation of mist in the shower, while washing, or through air conditioners.
The head of Rospotrebnadzor noted that in Europe temperature standards for water supply are lower than in Russia. This is a suitable environment for Legionella.
Let us remind you that an outbreak of legionellosis was recorded several weeks ago in Poland.
