No emergency epidemiological situations were recorded in Russia during the New Year holidays. Anna Popova, head of Rospotrebnadzor, spoke about this on Friday, January 12.
Popova emphasized that during the long New Year’s weekend, Rospotrebnadzor employees continued to fulfill their professional duties – “we always have a lot of work, the employees, of course, worked.”
At the same time, no epidemiological emergencies were identified in the country during this period, the head of the department emphasized.
Earlier, infectious disease specialist Evgeniy Timakov warned that in the wake of the tridemia in Russia, including the Tula region, tetrademic may come. We are talking about situations when a patient simultaneously falls ill with four respiratory viral infections, the most dangerous of which are influenza and coronavirus.
However, immunologist Vladislav Zhemchugov stated that probability of infection several respiratory viruses at once is zero. According to him, the legend of tridemia appeared because the PCR method makes it possible to detect single viruses that are in the nasopharynx and fall on the cotton swab. However, the very first virus activates the immune system, after which interferon is released, which blocks other infections.
