Polyansky: The West removes "sharp corners" from the draft resolution of the UN General Assembly on the anniversary of the NWO

Western countries have tried to remove “sharp corners” from the text of the draft resolution of the UN General Assembly, which they plan to adopt next week on the occasion of the anniversary of the special military operation, they do this in order to enlist broad support, declared First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyansky.

UN General Assembly discusses a draft resolution proposed by Western countries “on the principles underlying a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace in Ukraine”, which could be adopted at a meeting next week, RIA Novosti reported earlier.

According to Polyansky, Western politicians intend to make the anniversary of the start of the special operation “an informational occasion for new attacks on Russia” and prove that Moscow is isolated in the UN.

“Their main problem is that we are not isolated. And pushing through anti-Russian texts is becoming increasingly difficult. And now, with a huge creak, work is underway on the draft resolution of the General Assembly on the “anniversary” of the NWO, from which the Westerners tried to remove all the “sharp corners”, “round off” everything as much as possible in order to enlist the widest possible support,” Polyansky wrote in his Telegram- channel.

The text of the draft is becoming more and more vague, while many countries are no longer ready to support it, said the deputy representative to the UN. Voting on the GA resolution, according to him, should take place on February 23, and the special session in the General Assembly will resume the day before.

As previously reported by RIA Novosti, an emergency special session of the General Assembly, dedicated to the anniversary of the start of the special operation, is scheduled for February 22. The text of the document that they want to adopt at the session echoes the “peace plan” of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. One version of the text of the document reads: “The General Assembly calls on Member States (UN) and international organizations to redouble their support for diplomatic efforts to achieve a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace in Ukraine in accordance with the UN Charter.” The document mentions that the General Assembly reaffirms its commitment to the sovereignty of Ukraine. It also spelled out requirements for Russia to withdraw troops within the internationally recognized borders of the country.

Zelensky presented his peace plan in December 2022 at a meeting with US President Joe Biden. Among the 10 points of this initiative are the release of all prisoners of war, the restoration of the “territorial integrity” of Ukraine, etc.

At the end of December 2022, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called Zelensky’s “peace formula” illusory. On February 8, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya, at a meeting of the organization’s Security Council, said that the plan proposed by Zelensky to resolve the conflict was unrealistic. Nebenzya believes that the “peace formula” of the Ukrainian president is “a mockery of the concept of a peace plan.”
