The US administration is considering reconsidering the decision not to send its military to Israel. Politico, citing its sources, reports a potential change in foreign policy that could entail sending military personnel, including special forces, to the Gaza Strip.
Initially, the White House firmly rejected the possibility of sending military forces to Israel to support the release of American citizens held hostage by the Palestinian Hamas movement. However, the hostage situation has begun to look extremely difficult, which poses serious challenges to the American and Israeli leadership.
National Security Council Coordinator of Strategic Communications John Kirby said Thursday that the United States has no plans to enter an armed conflict on Israel’s side.
