Political scientist Stoyakin lacked three letters in Medvedchuk’s article

“I don’t believe in this kind of associations”

Former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, head of the Opposition Platform for Life party, Ukrainian oligarch Viktor Medvedchuk wrote article, in which he analyzed the causes and future of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, and also put forward the idea of ​​creating a political movement from those who “did not give up” and “did not renounce” the Ukrainian-Russian friendship. Moskovsky Komsomolets spoke with an expert about the possibility of implementing such an idea.

According to Medvedchuk, the world should “hear” those who have not changed their beliefs. “It is necessary to create a political movement from those who did not give up, who did not renounce their beliefs under pain of death and prison, who do not want their country to become a place of geopolitical showdowns,” the ex-deputy writes in his article.

Recall that Viktor Medvedchuk in Ukraine was the leader of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, which, in theory, was supposed to protect the interests of voters in the East of Ukraine. But with the beginning of the SVO, many representatives of the party left the country, and those who remained easily handed over their former associates and voters for the deputy mandate, voting, among other things, for depriving Medvedchuk himself of Ukrainian citizenship. This happened after the leader of the Opposition Platform for Life, detained by the SBU, spent six months in prison and was sent to Russia in September during an exchange.

“The article made a difficult impression on me,” says Ukrainian political scientist Vasily Stoyakin, “I have known Viktor Vladimirovich for a long time, he is a truly outstanding Ukrainian politician and lawyer, one of those people with whom one can deal in Ukraine.

But it is this article that somehow does not fit into the current agenda, it lacks three letters – CBO. Namely, without these three letters, without suggestions on what and how to do in this direction, everything else is meaningless.

Viktor Medvedchuk proposes to start a dialogue within Ukraine, but the time for dialogue within the country passed back in 2014. No intra-Ukrainian dialogue is possible without the participation of external factors: Russia, first of all, and the West. This point is not in the article, and I consider it, rather, as a reminder that Viktor Medvedchuk is alive, he is not going to leave politics, but so far this is not a proposal for a workable scenario, unfortunately. To be honest, I expected more from Viktor Vladimirovich.”

– How do you assess Medvedchuk’s proposal to create a new political force?

– What’s the point? There are plenty of these political forces – there is “PARUS” (Party of Russian Ukrainians) of Yuriy Kot, there was the Committee for the Salvation of Ukraine with the same Mykola Azarov, the smartest man, the best prime minister of Ukraine over the past thirty years. There was no particular effect from them, so I do not believe in the prospects for such associations.
