An entire criminal gang is uncovered

The scheme of how to make money on “dead souls” was invented by a 33-year-old tax official from Krasnodar. The man was helped by the working base of the taxpayers.

As it became known to MK, in February 2022, the police department of the North-East Administrative Okrug received a statement from a local resident. The woman reported that money in the total amount of 300 thousand rubles was missing from two accounts of her late husband. The police launched an investigation and unexpectedly uncovered a whole criminal gang. The founder of the gang is 33-year-old Maxim (his name has been changed). Working in the tax office, a man could find out the full details of recently deceased taxpayers. Maxim created at first glance an ideal scheme. The man organized five “points” throughout Russia. The group included 14 people: employees of credit institutions and telecom operators. The former checked the availability of money in the bank accounts of the “dead souls”, while the latter reissued the SIM cards of the dead. After that, funds were withdrawn through the mobile bank. Kush was given to Maxim, and he, in turn, distributed the money between the participants, depending on their contribution to the business.

Now all the participants in the criminal scheme have been identified, 7 of them are in a pre-trial detention center, and 7 – mostly women – are under house arrest. The investigation established 22 episodes of fraud, the total damage amounted to more than 17 million rubles.
