The police of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region checked the documents of the Roma living compactly in the village of Verkhnie Oselki and in the apart-hotel on Pulkovskoye Highway, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region reported.
Local residents complained about the Roma living in Verkhniye Oselki. In St. Petersburg, an inspection was carried out at an apart-hotel on Pulkovskoye Highway, where, according to operational data, gypsies lived in room 404. The head office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that the purpose of the inspection was to prevent illegal activity.
As a result of the check, more than 50 people were taken to the police department. They were fingerprinted. Almost 20 Roma were brought to administrative responsibility due to their lack of a document confirming registration at their place of residence. 35 men received summonses to military registration and enlistment offices for military registration.
