Police began checking blogger Edward Beale to discredit the army because of a four-year-old meme

Lawyer Sergei Zhorin said that the police are checking blogger Edward Beal about discrediting the Armed Forces because of a 4-year-old meme.

According to the lawyer quoted by TASS, the appeal to the police is connected with a meme that was published on the Internet in 2018. Because Art. 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was introduced into the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation in March 2022, Sergey Zhorin believes that there are no grounds for bringing the blogger to criminal liability.

Previously REN TV source informedthat on January 20, the Ministry of Internal Affairs received an appeal demanding that the blogger be held accountable for insulting the Armed Forces. After the blogger’s PR manager Vladislav Kertiev informed Gazeta.ru that this information is fake.

“One of the hundreds of small fake Telegram channels that we have nothing to do with posted a picture with a four-year-old viral meme. We have nothing to do with this material and the channel where it was published,” he said.

Gazeta.ru refers to a message from the Shot Telegram channel dated January 23, which says that Bill’s subscribers noticed his post with a meme about the question to the commander in chief: “Chi or not chi?” (a phrase from Beal’s popular prank).

Edward Biel (Eduard Biel) gained fame thanks to scandalous pranks. His YouTube channel has over 4 million subscribers. In November, a blogger sentenced to one year and two months in a penal colony for an accident on Smolenskaya Square in Moscow, came out from the colony.
