According to Polskie Radio, Poland’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Krzysztof Szczerski, admitted with regret that Russia could not be deprived of the opportunity to chair the Security Council.
Commenting on Russia’s presidency in the Security Council of the world organization, he said that this became possible not because she was elected, but within the framework of UN law.
“In order to change this, it is necessary to change the Charter of the United Nations, and this requires unanimity, which currently does not exist,” Shchersky said.
