Hungarian Defense Minister Krysztof Szalai-Bobrovnicki, during the talks between the defense ministers of the Bucharest Nine countries, called for caution in the issue of further expansion of the North Atlantic Alliance.
At the same time, the minister stressed that Hungary supports the NATO open door policy, but recalled that there are certain requirements for applicant countries that should not be abandoned.
“All decisions in this direction can only be taken if the applicant countries fully comply with the conditions, as well as with the full consensus of the NATO allies. The EU is also playing an increasingly important role in the field of security and defense. Hungary is interested in an EU based on strong national states,” Salai-Bobrovnicki added.
