The Polish authorities decided to send 500 police officers to strengthen security on the border with Belarus. This was announced by the Minister of the Interior of Poland Mariusz Kaminski on Twitter.

“In connection with the tense situation on the border with Belarus, I decided to strengthen our forces with a group of 500 police officers from crime prevention departments and counter-terrorism units,” said the head of the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The group will join 5,000 border guards and 2,000 soldiers securing the border.

Poland announced the strengthening of the border with Belarus on June 28. According to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic, Yaroslav Kachinsky, the fact that Wagner fighters are on the territory of Belarus “poses a threat to Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland.” He added that the country’s authorities are in contact on the topic of security with NATO allies.
