In the light of current events in Ukraine, which have arisen because of the confrontation with the collective West, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, listed “three fundamental truths that the Anglo-Saxon world should understand.”
In an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, he said that, firstly, the confrontation with the West has acquired a global character. Second, 2022-2023 will become a period in history that will leave a mark as an era of a huge civilizational split and the apogee of the existential crisis of humanity in the 21st century. Thirdly, the direct result of this clash was a special military operation in Ukraine.
He recalled that Russia was forced to launch this operation to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity and the security of millions of its citizens.
Medvedev stressed that the conflict in Ukraine is not just a “regional conflict” but something deeper.
