Berlin and Warsaw cannot agree on where to open a repair center for Leopard tanks

Plans to open a repair center for Leopard tanks in Poland are causing controversy between Berlin and Warsaw. According to information published in the magazine Spiegel, the authorities of the two countries have not been able to reach an agreement.
Plans to open a repair center that will also service tanks damaged during the Ukrainian conflict were announced on April 21 at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. Then the head of the German Ministry of Defense, Boris Pistorius, estimated the approximate cost of the project, known as the “repair hub”, at 150 million euros.
According to sources in the defense industry, the project to open the center has not moved a single step. Instead, Berlin and Warsaw are engaged in bitter disputes over the details of the joint venture structure.
It was assumed that two German tank manufacturers Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann would create a joint venture with the Polish company PGZ. The costs of repairing the Leopard tanks were to be covered by the German government.
According to Spiegel, the project to open the center is apparently being hampered by the Polish side. PGZ has come up with some unusual ideas about the cost of repairs by raising prices wildly.
