Piskarev announced the readiness of a project to ban advertising from foreign agents

State Duma deputy Vasily Piskarev said that the Duma committees on security and economic policy have already prepared a bill on a complete ban on advertising on social networks and other Internet platforms of foreign agents. Formerly Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin statedthat such a document is being “discussed” by deputies.

“I completely agree: those who already have a good job, living on handouts from Russia’s enemies, should not also earn money from our citizens,” wrote Mr. Piskarev, commenting on Vyacheslav Volodin’s post in the Telegram channel.

He did not provide other details about the contents of the draft law. “I am sure that the public support that Vyacheslav Viktorovich speaks about will speed up the adoption of the bill!” — concluded Vasily Piskarev.

Today, February 10, Vyacheslav Volodin reported that the State Duma is “discussing” a bill that would prohibit individuals and legal entities, regardless of their form of ownership, from placing advertisements on the websites of foreign agents, on their social networks and on other Internet platforms. “People are outraged: bloggers, acting in the interests of unfriendly states and pouring dirt on our country, still make money from our citizens, from domestic companies,” – this is how Mr. Volodin explained the reason why the discussion arose in the State Duma.

In April 2023, the State Duma Commission on Combating Foreign Intervention proposed depriving foreign agents of property support from the state, as well as fining those who help foreign agents circumvent the prohibitions provided for by law. In the same month, State Duma deputy Evgeny Fedorov sent a letter to the head of the Ministry of Finance, Anton Siluanov, proposing to introduce an additional tax of 5% on profits for foreign agents.
