Peskov: The Prosecutor General reported to the President on the initiation of a case on an attempted rebellion

Prosecutor General of Russia Igor Krasnov reported to President Vladimir Putin on the initiation of a criminal case on an attempted military mutiny, informed RIA Novosti press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov.
“The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Krasnov reported to Putin in the context of initiating a criminal case in connection with an attempt to organize an armed rebellion,” the spokesman said.
He also added that Krasnov informed the head of state about the legality of initiating such a case.
On June 23, the head of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, accused the Russian Defense Ministry of attacking PMC fighters. The ministry said that reports that the Russian Armed Forces allegedly attacked Wagner rear camps on orders from the defense department’s leadership were untrue.
On June 23, the National Anti-Terrorist Committee of Russia (NAC) announced the initiation of a criminal case on incitement to an armed rebellion. The FSB called on the Wagner PMC fighters not to follow Prigozhin’s criminal orders and take measures to detain him, the FSB CSO said.
