Russia hopes that Kazakhstan will be a stable and prosperous country, and the partnership between the countries will continue to develop, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the country’s president, said. According to him, the previously announced political reforms in the republic will not spoil bilateral relations.
“It is difficult to overestimate the importance of our bilateral dialogue, alliance and partnership. And we hope that the partnership will continue to develop in all areas and, of course, we want Kazakhstan to be prosperous and self-confident, firmly standing on its feet, a stable country, a stable state,” Mr. Peskov said during a press call .
As the press secretary specified, the political reforms announced earlier by the leadership of Kazakhstan will not change the relations between the states. “We want to see the future of our bilateral relations and the future of Kazakhstan itself only as the most brilliant. Kazakhstan is our great partner both in bilateral terms and in terms of integration formats,” Mr. Peskov noted.
Today, September 1, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in a message to the population, proposed holding early presidential elections this fall, as well as limiting the president’s mandate to one seven-year term.
