Presidents of Russia and Turkey Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan did not discuss the purchase of Turkish Bayraktar drones, transmits “RIA Novosti” with reference to the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov.
“No,” the Kremlin spokesman replied when asked if issues related to Turkish drones were discussed at the talks.
At the end of July, Erdogan said that Russia had expressed a desire to cooperate with the Turkish manufacturer of unmanned aerial vehicles. “Putin told me he wanted to work with Bayraktar,” Erdogan said at the time.
Now Turkish Baykar drones are used by Ukraine in combat operations. The country began purchasing Bayraktar TB2 drones back in 2019. At the end of September 2021, Ukraine and the Bayraktar drone manufacturer signed a memorandum on the construction of a joint center for maintenance and modernization of devices in the Kyiv region.
