Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov believes that the growing interest of Russians in military service, which was announced the day before by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, is associated with the consolidation of society and attractive conditions of service.
On October 25, during an operational meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Defense, Dmitry Medvedev reported, that 385 thousand people have entered military service since January 2023. He also noted a significant increase in the rate of selection for military service under contract. According to him, over 1.6 thousand people enter into contracts with the armed forces every day.
During a press call, Dmitry Peskov was asked what the Kremlin associates with the trend of 2023, because a year ago, after the announcement of partial mobilization in Russia, many men of military age chose to leave the country. “Firstly, the level of consolidation is growing. Secondly, these are very, very attractive conditions. We are talking about a really quite impressive contract. And therefore, for many, these conditions are truly decisive, and citizens make similar decisions for themselves,” the press secretary replied.
