Peskov described what the last year before the presidential election will be like for Putin

In the last year before the presidential election, the main thing for Vladimir Putin will be “things that need to be completed 100% effectively and victoriously,” said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the head of state.

“For him, the main thing is substantive work and tangible results of this work. Especially when it comes to such a fateful moment in the history of our country, where the responsibility of each and every one is multiplied. Therefore, of course, the main thing will be – these are our cases that we have encountered this year and which need to be completed 100% efficiently and victoriously, ”said the Kremlin spokesman.

According to Peskov, elections for 2024 have already been scheduled, and they will also be followed by the start of electoral processes.

At the end of November, Putin said that he had not yet decided whether he would be re-elected for a new presidential term. At the same time, answering the question about what other goals he would like to achieve for Russia, the president said that “I would like to realize the plans that we have announced, the goals that we have set for ourselves in terms of the development of the country.”

Putin served as president from 2000 to 2008, and then starting in 2012. The last elections took place in 2018. Under current law, the president of Russia is elected for a six-year term. In 2020, amendments to the Constitution came into force, which give Putin the right to be elected to office in 2024.
