Peskov confirmed Pashinyan’s invitation to the CIS summit in St. Petersburg

The head of the Armenian government, Nikol Pashinyan, was sent an invitation to the informal summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), planned in St. Petersburg at the end of the year. This information was confirmed on Friday, November 17, by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
In response to a corresponding question, the Kremlin speaker stated that “everyone is invited,” meaning the political leaders of the CIS member countries.
At the same time, Peskov could not answer the question of whether Pashinyan will come to the summit – this is still unknown.
After information about Pashinyan’s decision not to come to Minsk for the summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), there were rumors that Yerevan prepares the way for exit from this association. However, the Armenian prime minister said that “we decided not to attend these CSTO events for various reasons.”
At the same time, the politician reproached the CSTO by the fact that the Organization allegedly refused to fix its area of responsibility in Armenia. For this reason, Pashinyan said, if Yerevan participates in the organization’s events, it “will join the logic by which the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia are questioned.”
