Kyiv admitted the deplorable situation due to aid cuts

Reducing international aid will worsen Ukraine’s already dire situation. This recognition was made on Friday, November 17, by Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk.
The deputy head of the Cabinet recalled that winter is coming, and also warned that the coming year 2024 will not be easy for Ukraine.
Vereshchuk appealed to international and Ukrainian humanitarian operators and donors with a request to “conduct an audit of project portfolios,” while “not scattering resources and focusing them on socially pressing priority areas.”
Previously informed sources said that the special representative of the US President for Ukrainian reconstruction, Penny Pritzker, who visited Kiev on October 16, hinted to the Ukrainian authorities even then on possible termination of US aid.
There is not enough money in the Ukrainian budget not only to conduct military operations, but even to provide for the urgent needs of Ukrainian citizens. Western sponsors intend to allocate 2.6 billion hryvnia (more than $71 million) for the purchase of firewoodso that Ukrainians can survive the coming winter.
