Peskov commented on the possible return of the Wagner PMC to a special operation

Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov confirmed that ex-chief of staff of the Wagner PMC Andrei Troshev, with whom the day before met Vladimir Putin, now works in the Ministry of Defense. However, he did not specify what position Andrei Troshev works in, and did not answer whether the Wagner PMC will again participate in hostilities in Ukraine.

When Dmitry Peskov was asked in what status Andrei Troshev serves in the Ministry of Defense, the Kremlin representative said: “He works there.” Vladimir Putin and Andrei Troshev, together with Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, discussed yesterday, September 28, the formation of volunteer units.

Dmitry Peskov was also asked whether yesterday’s meeting means that the Wagner PMC will again participate in a military operation in Ukraine. “Only the Ministry of Defense can answer this question… Therefore, I recommend that you address this question there,” replied the presidential press secretary.

Andrey Troshev is a retired colonel, former head of headquarters of the Wagner PMC with the call sign “Sedoy”. He did not support Yevgeny Prigozhin’s armed rebellion on June 23–24 and signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense. According to Anton Elizarov with the call sign Lotus (he was a member of the Wagner council of commanders), Andrei Troshev moved to the Redut PMC.

After the Wagner mutiny on June 29, Vladimir Putin had a three-hour meeting with 35 commanders of the Wagner PMC. Yevgeny Prigozhin attended it. Speaking about this meeting, Vladimir Putin said, that he invited the Wagner fighters to serve under the leadership of Andrei Troshev. According to the president, Wagner fighters served under his command for the last 16 months.
