Peskov called for waiting for the final report on the crash of Prigozhin’s plane

The investigation has not yet presented a final report on the crash of the plane on board which was the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, information about fragments from hand grenades is only one of the established facts. This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

“This was not the final report. <...> This is one of the established facts so far,” Peskov said, answering the question when the final report of the investigation into the crash of Prigozhin’s plane will be published. Peskov added that there are no set dates yet for when the report will be made public. He only noted that he would appear “after the investigation is completed.”

On October 5, speaking at the plenary session of the XX annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club, Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedthat a few days ago the Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, reported to him on the progress of the investigation into the plane crash. In particular, during the examination it was established that there was no external impact on the aircraft. Putin also added that fragments of hand grenades were found in the bodies of the victims.

On August 23, an Embraer-135 (EBM-135BJ) business jet crashed in the Tver region near the village of Kuzhenkino. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that the plane was flying along the route Moscow – St. Petersburg, there were 10 people on board – seven passengers and three crew members. Based on the fact of the crash, the Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic safety rules and operation of air transport).

On August 27, the Investigative Committee confirmed the death of Prigozhin in a plane crash in the Tver region. The department also noted that the identities of all ten people killed in the plane crash have been established. Prigogine was buried August 29 in St. Petersburg at the Porokhovsky cemetery.
