Peskov announced the possibility of a peaceful resolution of the situation in Karabakh

To resolve the escalation of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, concrete efforts must be made; Moscow sees the possibility of entering into peace negotiations, said presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
Commenting statements Ambassador of Armenia Edmon Marukyan that it was the United States’ turn to decide what measures would be used to resolve the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, Peskov stressed that “there should be no queue” in this matter.
“There must be concrete efforts based on a real legal framework, which makes it possible to reach a peaceful settlement. From our point of view, there is such an opportunity,” Peskov added.
The Kremlin spokesman explained that these are the very “agreements on which we base our actions.” Moscow continues contacts with Baku and Yerevan, Peskov added.
On September 19, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced the start of “anti-terrorist measures” in Nagorno-Karabakh to “restorate the constitutional order” of the republic. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic stated that the measures are necessary for the withdrawal of Armenian troops from the territory of the region and “restoration of the constitutional order” of Azerbaijan.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry condemned Baku’s actions and called them “large-scale aggression.” They stated that the armed forces of the republic and military equipment are not stationed in Nagorno-Karabakh. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan accused Baku in an attempt to drag his country into full-scale military action. He also stated that the situation around Karabakh was not unexpected.
Previously the European Union condemned escalation of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and called on the parties to return to dialogue, and Azerbaijan to a cessation of hostilities.
