Personnel for Russian oil workers will be trained in Qatar, Vladivostok and Ufa

Ufa State Petroleum Technical University (USPTU) and Qatar University will train personnel for the domestic oil industry. This became known from the text of a trilateral agreement on cooperation between higher educational institutions and PJSC Rosneft, which was signed within the framework of the VIII Eastern Economic Forum. A similar document was signed at the forum with the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU). The agreement on cooperation in the field of education and science was signed by Rosneft Chief Executive Officer Igor Sechin and FEFU Rector Boris Korobets.

As the oil company’s press service reported, the first document provides for interaction between the parties on the implementation of programs for additional professional education and training for enterprises. Another important area of ​​cooperation under the agreement will be research activities. Scientists will exchange experience and developments in such areas as gas production and processing, gas chemistry, climate change and carbon footprint reduction, and digital technologies.

“The agreement will contribute to the development of partnerships between Rosneft, Qatar University and USPTU, and the solution of personnel and scientific and technological problems of the company,” the company said in a press release.

The agreement with FEFU provides for the expansion of interaction between the company and the university in the field of training and retraining of personnel, scientific and innovative activities, as well as the development of the scientific and educational infrastructure of the university. It should be noted that the university provides highly qualified personnel to the most modern shipyard in Russia – the Zvezda shipbuilding complex, as well as enterprises of the Far Eastern Center for Shipbuilding and Ship Repair: over the past five years, more than 600 FEFU graduates have been employed there.

For more than 10 years, projects at the intersection of science and business have been implemented at the university’s sites, and highly qualified specialists are being trained in areas relevant to the oil company. Among the popular specialties are oil and gas engineering, chemical technology, power engineering and electrical engineering, process automation, mechanical engineering, and shipbuilding.

Today, as part of the formation of a comprehensive scientific and educational infrastructure on the basis of FEFU, Rosneft is creating a corporate Competence Center. The center’s infrastructure will include 18 classrooms, 3 co-working areas, 12 laboratories and 2 basic departments. It will create training laboratories in promising areas, such as ship modeling, robotics, computer programming and design, as well as R/AR technologies for organizing project work. The first stage of the center – the thematic module “Engineering” – has already been launched.

Subsequently, on the basis of the center, it is planned to implement advanced training and retraining programs for employees of coastal shipbuilding and ship repair enterprises, as well as to develop a system of additional education.
