The administration of Perm refused to install the “Prehistoric Shell” art object, said the deputy head of Perm Dmitry Galikhanov. The art object was planned to be installed on the site of demolished kiosks in the center of Perm, opposite the city Central Department Store. An unnamed private investor planned to allocate 18 million rubles for the construction of the facility. Instead of the art object, a through passage will be built, the official added. He did not indicate the reasons for abandoning the project.
However, as a Kommersant source close to the city authorities reported, funds in the amount of 18.6 million rubles intended for the construction of “Rakushka” will not be lost and will be used for the construction of a monument to the heroes of the special operation – it can be installed in the park near the House of Chekists on Sibirskaya street.
Now the mayor’s office is holding a competition among architects to build a monument. According to Kommersant-Prikamye, the monument is an initiative of the authorities of the Perm region. The regional government told Kommersant-Prikamye that they had not heard anything about this. The mayor’s office left Kommersant-Prikamye’s question without comment.
