This performance is part of the educational process for the patriotic education of youth. On the basis of declassified intelligence documents, with the help of theatrical techniques, a unique concert-lesson, a lecture-reflection was created, thanks to which children learn about the once secret information from the history of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, which today’s schoolchildren can and should be proud of.

Dozens of artists from the V. S. Loktev Song and Dance Ensemble and other creative groups of Moscow participated in the musical and dramatic work “The History of the Country – the History of Intelligence”, created with the support of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia, the Department of Education and Science of Moscow, the Moscow Palace of Pioneers on Sparrow Hills . And the concert is dedicated to the recent assignment of the local school number 1694 named after the legendary head of domestic intelligence Pavel Mikhailovich Fitin.

Spectators of various ages gathered in the hall paid tribute to the memory of the members of the Soviet underground anti-fascist organization Young Guard, created exactly 80 years ago, in September 1942. The underground guys, the youngest of whom was only 14 years old, operated in the city of Krasnodon, which is now controlled by the Luhansk People’s Republic.

It is surprising that by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, literally a few hours before the start of the concert, on September 22, the title of Hero of Russia was posthumously awarded to Viktor Tretyakevich, a member of the Young Guard headquarters, for heroism in the fight against the Nazi invaders.

Another part of the performance was dedicated to the memory of the head of the Soviet foreign intelligence during the Great Patriotic War, Pavel Fitin.

Thanks to intelligence, the leadership of the USSR at that time received accurate information about the military-strategic goals of Nazi Germany, its military and industrial potential, and the attempts of the allies in the anti-Hitler coalition to hold separate negotiations with the Third Reich behind the back of the Soviet Union. After the war, thanks to its intelligence service, the USSR gained access to secret American technologies for creating nuclear weapons, which ensured nuclear parity between the two powers and guaranteed the security of not only our country, but the whole world.

As part of the concert lesson, an archival recording of the performance of the legendary Soviet intelligence officer Alexei Botyan, who in January 1945 led the operation to save Polish Krakow from destruction by the Nazis, was shown. In his very relevant address to the youth, Aleksey Nikolaevich Botyan shared his thoughts with the guys about the need to give all their strength to the defense of the Motherland and its prosperity.

“It is important for us not only to acquaint children with the fate of the heroes of past years and examples of true courage and heroism, but also to show what a person can become and what benefits he can bring to our entire society and state if he works hard and is not afraid to accept difficult and fateful decisions. It’s great that today, during the “Conversation about the Important”, children in an informal setting were able to learn something new for themselves and get acquainted with little-known pages of our history,” said Elena Melville, director of the Vorobyovy Gory State Budgetary Vocational Educational Institution, in the final amazingly touching and memorable lesson-concert.
