It is important not to forget to remove water from everywhere: from the water supply system, faucets, toilet bowl, heating system, radiators, heating boilers, sewage water locks and even ordinary barrels and hoses.

Once you’re done with water, move on to gas and electricity. If the house is connected to a gas pipeline, then it must be blocked at the entry point, and not at the stove or gas boiler. The same applies to autonomous gas supply – we block the cylinder or tank.

If you leave the cottage for a long time – you need to completely turn off the electricity. Interruptions in power supply, power surges in the network are not uncommon in summer cottages. In order to avoid force majeure situations, it is advisable to turn off not only all devices, but also the general power switch.

Well, when all security issues are resolved, take on the general cleaning. All rubbish must be disposed of before closing the gate. Do not even leave dirt on the stove, because any crumb or dried greasy puddle can attract rodents into the house, for which there are almost no obstacles. They can easily gnaw through both the wooden floor and several layers of insulation.

After that, do a wet cleaning and cover the furniture with covers, thick cloth or film. So you save it from dampness and dust.

“No matter how ridiculous it may sound, but leaving the dacha, you need to check it for strength – if the roof is leaking, if the corners are warped,” says Andrey Tumanov, the country’s chief gardener. – Make sure that the roof, even for outbuildings, can withstand heavy snow loads. And then you can check the tightness of closing windows and doors so that drafts and moisture do not enter the house.

It would be ideal to provide a few tricks that will secure the house from thieves. According to some reports, from September to October, the number of alarm calls at suburban real estate grows by more than 35%.

The most reliable way to protect a country house is to install an alarm, but not everyone can afford it. Therefore, the minimum program is bars on the windows and reliable locks. At the same time, remove garden tools and furniture from the site – they can be damaged or stolen.

The beds also need to be prepared for the next season – cut the tops, apply compost, fertilizers. It is recommended to mow the lawn before the first frost. Shrubs and fruit trees are best cut, and it will not be superfluous to protect them from rodents.
