Lactose intolerance occurs in almost half of Russians, and they cannot eat foods that contain milk without negative consequences. But soon this problem should be solved: a drug has been developed in Moscow that helps the body break down lactose.

The development of the Academy-T company will allow people with lactose intolerance to safely drink milk, eat ice cream, yogurt, butter sandwiches and other products that contain milk. This was reported on the official website of the mayor of Moscow.

“Every year, the Moscow enterprise Akademiya-T produces over 650 thousand units of sports and special nutrition in the form of capsules, tablets and powders. The company recently developed a new product for people with lactose intolerance. Its production has already been launched, and in the near future capsules will be delivered to stores,” Vladislav Ovchinsky, head of the Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy, is quoted on mos.ru.

It is clarified that the new development makes it possible to compensate for the lack of the lactase enzyme in the body, which is responsible for the breakdown of milk sugar. The drug will be produced in the form of capsules, each of which contains about 4275 units of lactase activity – this amount may be enough to digest about 0.5 liters of milk.

There is no information about the exact timing of the appearance of capsules on sale, their name and prices.
