Pentagon: Putin's statements will not affect the willingness to help Kyiv

US Air Force Brigadier General Patrick Ryder, a spokesman for the Pentagon, said at a briefing commenting on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statements, including on the possibility of using nuclear weapons, do not affect commitments to provide military support to Ukraine.

Ryder noted that Kyiv needs military assistance from the United States and its allies to protect their country.

“We will continue to think not only about what they (Ukraine) need in the medium and long term, but also about what they need now,” Ryder said to CNN.

“Therefore, I do not see that these conversations are affected by this situation,” the US Department of Defense spokesman added.

Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his address to citizens on Wednesday, assured that the territorial integrity, independence and freedom of the country will be ensured “by all means at our disposal.” He also warned those who are trying to blackmail Russia with nuclear weapons that the wind rose could turn in their direction.
