Lavrov called the principle according to which the West supports Zelensky

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described the West’s policy towards Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. According to him, the authorities of Western countries act on the principle “he is, of course, a son of a bitch, but he is ours.”

The minister also pointed to the “outrages” of Kyiv, which remain unpunished. He noted that since the end of July, in violation of the 1997 convention ratified by Ukraine, as well as the protocol of the Geneva Convention, Ukrainian troops have been using “Petal” mines in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

It is believed that the expression about the “son of a bitch” belongs to the 32nd US President Franklin Roosevelt, which he addressed to the Nicaraguan military and statesman Anastasio Somoza Garcia. Garcia was a supporter of anti-communist views, he was supported by the US authorities.

Western leaders have repeatedly declared their support for Ukraine and President Volodymyr Zelensky. Formerly US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken emphasizedthat the United States will continue to help Ukraine, despite the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to begin partial mobilization in the Russian Federation.

The Russian authorities regularly criticize the West for providing military support to Kyiv. So, back in April, Russia sent a note of protest to all countries, including the United States, because of the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Lavrov, on the other hand, stated that by pumping weapons to Ukraine, Western countries do not allow it to take constructive steps and do not allow it to negotiate with Russia.
