Patriotic mother complained to the authorities about the kindergarten with foreign language because of the British flags

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the mother of a preschool child caused a scandal throughout the region due to the unpatriotic, in her opinion, behavior of the administration of a kindergarten with the study of a foreign language. The incident became known from the deputy of the local Legislative Assembly Elena PenZina (this is how the deputy writes his last name on his personal blog).

The incident occurred in a kindergarten in Zelenogorsk, where preschoolers are taught English in a bilingual system. In autumn, events were held in the kindergarten as part of introducing children to the culture of Great Britain and, among other things, the classrooms were decorated with British flags, and a small portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II also appeared. One of the mothers did not appreciate the efforts of the teachers and stopped taking the child to the kindergarten. She also replaced the British flag with a Russian flag on her child’s luggage booth. When the child began to lag behind other children in the program and the lady was offered to transfer the child to another kindergarten, she decided to complain to those in power. Among other things, the woman said that the children, presumably in the form of a game, were handed out “British passports”.

Deputy Penzina sided with the patriotic mother and began to develop the topic in her blog. She complained that the administration of the preschool institution for some reason did not remove the “symbols” that caused the scandal at her request, and that the city education department called the whole situation simply a “game”.

“If in 1941-1945 in the kindergarten, as part of acquaintance with Germany, for 5 months, a portrait of Hitler hung in the group,” the deputy wrote, “and the children had a swastika placed on the booths? <...> But today no one is taking you to a pre-trial detention center and sending you to Solovki without the right to correspond.”

Addressing Zelenogorsk education officials, the deputy stated: “Today, our compatriots are being killed and wounded on the front line by mercenaries from different countries, including England.”

“Obviously, the Ministry of Education does not understand what patriotism is,” the deputy wrote in another post (in all quotes, the spelling of the author is preserved – MK), “what events can and should be carried out, and which are harmful.”

Several of her posts were dedicated to a number of colleagues, as well as journalists of regional publications, who stood up for the kindergarten and, according to the deputy, began to “harass” the patriotic mother. Penzina wrote about the “5th column”, “nasty smirks of intellectuals”, one of the journalists on something hinted – she said that she was lucky to work “in Russia, and not in Ukraine, and that we have a special military operation, and not a martial law regime.”

The publication ngs24.ru won praise from the deputy when reported that after five months of the scandal, the kindergarten nevertheless removed the British symbols. The publication also included comments from other parents who thanked the teachers and expressed words of support for the kindergarten.
