Patriarch Kirill spoke out against the celebration of Valentine’s Day and Halloween

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ declared the need to “put an end” to the celebration of Valentine’s Day and Halloween in Russia. Also, the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) proposed introducing a “family studies” course in Russian schools.
“Thank God, LGBT propaganda is prohibited at the legislative level in our country. However, it is important to move on. “Many questions are raised by the celebration of the so-called Valentine’s Day, imported from the West, which remains propaganda for relationships that have nothing to do with true love,” said the patriarch, speaking at the Christmas educational readings (quote from “Interfax”). According to the patriarch, the popularity of Valentine’s Day is associated with the “universal spread of the ideas of free love.”
He also called the Halloween celebration “an ugly orgy brought to us from abroad.” The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church believes that Halloween contradicts “the historical, moral and religious values of Russia.” The Patriarch is confident that the state should pay attention to this holiday and its “pagan roots.”
Halloween is celebrated on the night from October 31 to November 1. Valentine’s Day is celebrated on February 14th.
