Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ Kirill began the Christmas service in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

The event is attended by hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church, priests of the Moscow diocese, government officials, and public figures. The event is broadcast live on the Russian Orthodox Church website and on Russian TV channels.

To the Cathedral of Christ the Savior on the eve of Christmas delivered icon “Trinity” by Andrei Rublev. It was written in the 15th century. The icon depicts a story from the Old Testament about the appearance of God in the form of three pilgrims: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Christmas is one of the main Christian holidays, established in honor of the birth of Jesus Christ and symbolizes the reconciliation of man with God.
