Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ decided to transfer the precious cross given to him to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The Patriarch considered it too majestic and expensive for his patriarchal cell.

The precious cross was “given to him by benefactors.” When the patriarch opened the cross, he realized how majestic, beautiful, and dear it was. And then he thought that he “had no place in the patriarch’s cell.” Therefore, on the day of the Exaltation of the Cross – September 27 – he handed over the cross to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

The Patriarch, after the Liturgy of the Cross in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, said about the gift: “May it overshadow you with Divine mercy and love.”
