Passengers on the upper shelves of Russian trains will be officially allowed to use the lower shelves for meals, RIA Novosti reports.
The corresponding provision will come into force on September 1.
Reportedly, this right has not been legislated anywhere, and the Ministry of Transport, after a large number of complaints received, amended the rules for transportation by rail.
Now a passenger from the top shelf can use a table from the bottom shelf 3 times a day: in the morning (from 7.00 to 10.00) for half an hour, in the afternoon (from 12.00 to 15.00) for an hour and in the evening (from 19.00 to 21.00) for half an hour.
At the same time, the conductor of the car must apply with the corresponding requirement to the passenger of the lower shelf, the report says.
