January 1 in the folk calendar is the Day of Boniface. Fashionistas will like the traditions of this day: it is believed that several outfits need to be changed in a day, and then the new year will be rich in good events.

Even on the first day of the new year, you need to do at least one good deed, and throughout the day – behave politely and affably. According to signs, otherwise the year will pass in strife and quarrels.

It is also believed that if you meet a man first on the street, this is a sign of wealth. And if a woman met first, finances will “sing romances” all year. A good omen is to wake up from a dog barking. It is believed that then the coming year will bring or strengthen your well-being.

There is also such a sign: if, while washing, rub your hands not with soap, but with coins, this will also help financial prosperity.

And on January 1, sellers are advised to make a discount to the first client so that trading is successful throughout the year.

To repay debts on this day – to poverty and ruin. Also, you can not borrow or lend money.

It is good if those who work in shifts have a day off on the first day of the year. There is a belief that if today you work hard, do hard and dirty work, then the whole year will pass in labor and trouble, which, moreover, will not bring any benefit.

It is impossible on this day to clean, wash, sew, needlework. The exception is minimal cleaning after the New Year’s feast. By the way, if today you accidentally break dishes or a Christmas tree toy, this is fortunately. But you don’t need to take out the trash, throw away or give away your things – otherwise you can take good luck and prosperity out of the house.

Folk signs on January 1 are as follows:

– what the weather is like on this day, it will be the same in July: if the day is sunny, July will turn out to be hot, if it rains or snows, the middle of summer will be rainy and cloudy;

– if frost appeared on the trees in the morning – the year will be fruitful;

– if the bullfinches sang, cloudy and snowy days will soon come;

– if the echo spreads far – to increased frost.

The dreams that you have on the night of January 2 may contain important information about whether everything is fine in your life, whether you need to change something in yourself or you are not yet ready for change. If the dream was heavy, then you need to rest and gain strength.
