Pacific Fleet ships conducted anti-piracy exercises in the Gulf of Aden

The missile cruiser “Varyag” and the frigate “Marshal Shaposhnikov” of the Pacific Fleet (PF) conducted exercises to combat piracy and destroy unmanned boats in the Gulf of Aden in the Arabian Sea, RIA Novosti writes, citing a message from the fleet. According to the Pacific Fleet press service, during the exercises fire was fired at simulated targets.

The Pacific Fleet also reported that during the exercise, the ship’s crews worked out an algorithm for joint actions to destroy unmanned boats and naval UAVs in the face of a massive attack. The fire came from heavy machine guns and an AK-630 anti-aircraft artillery mount.

The agency’s material notes that the exercises took place according to a certain scenario. According to the story, the ships received a signal about a pirate attack on a merchant ship. In the area of ​​the attack on the merchant ship, the crews repelled the attack of the pirate ship.
