Pablo Picasso’s eldest daughter dies

The eldest daughter of the famous Spanish artist Pablo Picasso (1881-1973), Maya Ruiz-Picasso, has died. It is reported by Agence France-Presse.
Maya Ruiz-Picasso was 87 years old. She was born in 1935 as a result of the artist’s relationship with his model Marie-Therese Walter. This relationship continued from 1927 to 1940.
In 1938, Pablo Picasso dedicated his painting “Maya with a Doll” to Maya. The artist also dedicated 13 more works to his eldest daughter between January 1938 and October 1939. Maya was married to naval officer Pierre Widmeier and had three children. Her daughter Diana Vidmeier Picasso is a well-known art critic in Europe.
The cause of death of Maya Ruiz-Picasso is not reported. But until the end of 2022, the National Picasso Museum in Paris is hosting an exhibition of the artist’s paintings, the main theme of which is Pablo’s relationship with his daughter Maya.
