The death toll in emergency situations in Russia over the past ten years has exceeded 6,000 people, Alexander Chupriyan, First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, said on August 19. Almost 830 thousand were affected. According to him, the bulk of the dead falls on man-made emergencies.
The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations also said that the material damage from technical fires in 2022 exceeded 15 billion rubles. On average, more than 1,000 fires occur in the country, in which 23 people die and about 120 objects are destroyed. The area of natural fires in the Russian Federation has reached almost 5 million hectares.
