Students in grades 9–11 of Orsk schools will return to educational institutions for in-person classes from April 15 to prepare for graduation. This was announced by the Vice-Governor and Minister of Health of the Orenburg Region Tatyana Savinova at a meeting of the head of the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation Irek Fayzullin and the head of the region Denis Pasler with local residents.

“Despite the distance learning, now for the entire city of Orsk, from Monday, we must return grades 9–11 to full-time education in order to prepare the children. Even if your school is flooded, then, of course, we will transfer grades 9–11 to schools that can teach children in person. We will definitely prepare grades 9–11 for graduation,” Ms. Savinova said during the meeting (quote from TASS). She clarified that high school students will be distributed to schools that are located at a safe distance from the flood zone.

Tatyana Savinova added that the issue of providing rest for children in federal camps, including Artek, is now being resolved, so that residents are engaged in restoring houses without being distracted by children.

In Orsk, 15 out of 40 schools were in the flood zone. Distance learning for all schoolchildren was introduced on April 8. Also, in 15 educational institutions of Orsk, temporary accommodation centers were opened for residents who were forced to leave their homes by a dam break. In educational institutions, sleeping places have been organized, the distribution of humanitarian aid has been organized, and doctors and rescuers are working.

In total, 6.8 thousand residential buildings were flooded in the city, and the total number of evacuees due to floods in the region exceeded 7.7 thousand.
