In Moscow, the Basmanny Court extended until December 12 the arrest of oppositionist Vladimir Kara-Murza (recognized in Russia as an individual foreign agent), accused of treason. This was reported on Monday in the press service of the court.

The investigation requested an extension of the arrest. The defense also asked the court to choose a preventive measure for the accused, not related to deprivation of liberty.

The court denied Kara-Murza’s defense.

The opposition leader has been in jail since the spring of this year. He was sent under arrest in a case of spreading false information about the activities of the Russian army. In the summer, he was charged with the activities of an undesirable organization. In October, the Investigative Committee of Russia, which is conducting the case, charged the oppositionist with 3 episodes of treason in connection with his speeches outside the Russian Federation.

Kara-Murza pleads not guilty to any of the charges and calls his criminal prosecution politically motivated.
