Only self-extinguishing cigarettes can be left in Russia

At the beginning of 2024, a document containing requirements for self-extinguishing cigarettes must be submitted to the government of the Russian Federation.
This was stated by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
The innovation is associated with a high risk of fire hazard.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations has included an item on solving problems with the use of cigarettes with reduced flammability in a special action plan that helps reduce interest in smoking among Russians.
The Customs Union has already created technical regulations for self-extinguishing tobacco products, and Russia has adopted it. It is assumed that such cigarettes will not become a catalyst for fires, especially if they are consumed by drunken citizens.
The essence of the new technology is the use of several thin strips of paper, acting as speed bumps. The smoldering of cigarettes stops as soon as the smoker stops puffing.
